Back in April 2013 West Brom Albion officially moved their youth set up into a top class facility located a stone throw from their home ground at the Hawthorns. The 1.3 million pound facility located in Halfords Lane was a results of six months renovation work.
The club converted the former Tom Silk Building, which housed the Albion Foundation until 2012, into dressing rooms and classrooms.
The facility boasts a state-of-the-art artificial outdoor surface that is used by the club's talented youngsters.
The work at Halfords Lane was part of an overall project worth £2.5million to upgrade academy facilities, with money also being spent on pitches at the Great Barr training ground.
West Brom committed £3million that same year to fund player development after being awarded a category one status – the highest ranking – in the Premier League’s Elite Player Performance Plan.
A top class environment for young players to develop within, the West Brom Academy is among the best in England to this day.
Keepitonthedeck.com is delighted to have the opportunity to share some drills/exercises from the academy, the sessions sent to us allow us to share to coaches and players out there, that's something we aim to do continuously for the good of the game.
